WP3 Workshop – Data Hub Use Cases

WP3s from PaNOSC and ExPaNDS are pleased to invite you to a Data Hub Use Cases Workshop, to be held online on Tuesday 16 Nov 2021, from 14:15 to 17:15 CET

Harvesting metadata from experiments requires an understanding of a particular experimental workflow and a deep integration to the control systems of the instruments to create “gluing tools” which can automatically extract relevant meta-data. The other aspect is the integration and use of metadata in downstream processing which can give immediate benefit to users. On the engineering side there is a desire to have flexible and customisable toolsets which can be applied to multiple cases.

The presentations in this workshop, by practitioners working with data infrastructures to support scientific objectives, aim to introduce some requirements and implementation ideas for metadata collection and use with some real use cases. They will highlight how data catalogues can be connected up to data production or data processing services to harness the full potential of the information. This should be useful for system specialists and scientists and encourage them to innovate their own use cases in a dialogue and realise the benefits of metadata.
