Talk on impact of the ESRF Data Policy on science
What is the impact of open FAIR data policies on science? Take a look at this talk by Andy Götz (ESRF) in which he addresses this topic. The talk was given on the 3 July 2025 as part of the seminar series organised by the Data Committee of the Japanese Society for Synchrotron Radiation Research. The talk present the ESRF Data Policy, recently updated to follow the recommendations of the PaNOSC FAIR Data Policy framework (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.3862701), one of the outcomes of the PaNOSC project. The talk explains the goals of the ESRF Data Policy and how these have been achieved for two scientific communities through the Human Organ Atlas and the Paleontology data portals. The Q&A session addresses the challenges faced by photon sources in Japan to implement an open and FAIR data policy. This talk offers an in depth look at how one of the members of the PaNOSC community, the ESRF, has implemented a FAIR data policy and what its impact on science has been so far.
