PaNOSC @ EOSC Symposium 2021
The EOSC Symposium 2021, taking place online from 15 to 18 June 2021, provides a key engagement opportunity for the EOSC community, and offers an inclusive platform for all stakeholders to share objectives, visions, activities and results in order to shape the future of the EOSC.
Also this year, PaNOSC will contribute to the EOSC Symposium with a number of talks by the project’s contributors, and specifically:
16 June 2021, 11:15-13:00 | Priorities, projects and partnerships – Identifying and addressing challenges for the EOSC Implementation phase
Chair: Sarah Jones, GÉANT & Director, EOSC Association
Practical interactive session during which the various challenges faced by projects implementing the EOSC will be addressed. By sharing challenges and issues, collaboration points between projects will be identified, towards a better understanding of how Advisory Groups and the Association collaborate with projects to address challenges and achieve objectives.

17 June 2021, 09:00-10:45 | Engagement and cross-fertilisation between Research Infrastructures and the EOSC ecosystem
Chair: Suzanne Dumouchel, Huma-Num (CNRS) & Director, EOSC Association/ESFRI
The Research Infrastructures and their thematic communities are key stakeholders for EOSC, both as providers of thematic quality data and services, and as users of EOSC generic data and services. RI communities are also leading the data culture change, driving data “FAIRness” and quality, as well as open access to data. The session is expected to tackle the user-centric and co-creation aspects of EOSC in its second phase post 2020, highlighting the need for closer engagement and onboarding of the RIs and other thematic communities in EOSC, in order to address and prioritise the actual research community requirements and provide added value for their end users.
From 09:10 to 09:25, Rudolf Dimper, (ESRF / PaNOSC/ExPaNDS) will present “How RIs will work with and benefit from EOSC“
17 June 2021 – 11:15-13:00 | Sustaining EOSC
Chair: Bob Jones, CERN & Director, EOSC Association
Sustaining EOSC by developing appropriate funding models and promoting long-term preservation so data and services remain available is the key theme for the Sustainability AG and its TFs. This session will focus on these areas with contributions from the community through the open call for contributions.
From 11:15 – 11:25, Ornela De Giacomo (CERIC-ERIC / PaNOSC) will contribute to the session with the presentation “Defining funding models for EOSC”
17 June – 14:25-15:30 | Breakout session 1 on AAI Architecture
In the breakout session 1 on AAI Architecture, chaired by Marina Adomeit, (Sunet), PaNOSC WP6 (EOSC integration) leader Jean-François Perrin (ESRF), will present “UmbrellaID: a community AAI in the EOSC era”.
The Symposium is organised by the EOSCsecretariat.eu project as part of its support to the EOSC Governance.
